"Our spring student-athletes continue to put their academic success first and foremost every day," Warriors' director of athletics Bill Pilgeram shared. "They continue to raise the bar every school year and show why Corban University is among the top NAIA programs in terms of both academic and athletic success.
To qualify as an NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their respective sport, and have attended their institution for at least one full year. This spring term, the list features an impressive number of student-athletes who have met these rigorous standards.
Corban University represented 53 of the 305 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) student-athletes honored this season for just over 17% of the conference, which ranks second among full-time members and trails only The College of Idaho and their nine eligible sports compared to the Warriors' seven. Trailing the Navy and Gold in the full-time conference scholar-athlete standings is Lewis-Clark State College (48), Bushnell University (46), Eastern Oregon University (44), Oregon Tech (39), Southern Oregon University (32), Northwest University (15), Multnomah (5), and The Evergreen State College (5).
In both sheer quantity and percentage of eligible student-athletes, the Warrior beach volleyball team crushed this year's academic honors, as they saw 14 student-athletes named to Scholar-Athlete status out of the 15 eligible rostered team members for a 93% success rate. They also make up over 13% of the total beach volleyball award winners out of the entire NAIA. Following the sandy Warriors in terms of total scholar-athletes for Corban spring sports was women's track and field (12), men's track and field (10), baseball (9), softball (6), and men's & women's golf with one apiece.
