MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Of the fourteen Warriors from the No. 18-ranked Corban University Men's Wrestling program to participate in the 2026 Mat 'Cat Open today hosted by NCAA DIII Linfield University, ten emerged from their weight class bouts with podium finishes, with three of them clinching individual tourney titles to tie for the most of any single university affiliation alongside NCAA DII San Francisco State University.

"It was good to get back on the mat and good for our guys to go through the process of making weight and wrestling multiple matches in a day as we prepare for the national duals next weekend," Warriors' head coach Nolan Harris began when asked to discuss today's results. "We had three champions, multiple finalists, and got a great opportunity to see what we're doing well and what we need to work on in order to finish our attacks and close out close matches. All in all, it was a successful tournament. We're looking forward to heading back to Iowa next week and competing against the toughest teams the NAIA has to offer."

Eight of the ten weight classes featured members of the Navy and Gold earning podium placements from individual weight class champion to eighth place overall among the 142 total grapplers in attendance. Earning top eight finishes today for the Corban men's wrestling team was senior Brayden Boyd (125lbs, 3rd place), senior Blake Runion (141lbs, 2nd place), senior Bo Davis (149lbs, 5th place), redshirt sophomore Andres Nicacio (174lbs, 4th place), sophomore Armando Nicacio (174lbs, 4th place), and senior Asaiah Kamplain (197lbs, 3rd place).

He needed three decisions and a dominant technical fall to do so, but junior Jr Downing secured yet another 149lbs tournament championship by outlasting fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) opponent in Eric Larwin from Eastern Oregon University during the title match in a 4-1 decision. In the semifinal bout, Downing earned a revenge victory over San Francisco State after falling in their head-to-head dual earlier this season, as he downed Jackson Morgan 7-5 to set up his eventual title matchup with EOU.

Both junior Isaiah Twait and redshirt senior Antonio Garcia cruised to their own weight class crowns at 184 and 285lbs, respectively, with each of the upperclassmen securing multiple pins and upholding their national rankings. Twait, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA for his weight class, dominated his Simpson University, unattached, and SFSU opponents before taking today's title via an 11-4 decision over an unattached Carlos Toledono, while the No. 3-ranked Garcia pinned three-consecutive opponents from Southwestern Oregon Community College, another unattached, and the tournament host Wildcats before claiming the championship via injury default over Red Hawks' Benjamin Vega-Sanchez in the first round at 2:22. Twait's fastest pin came in just 48 seconds, while Garcia's was logged at just over two minutes.
