Gladfelter Logs Top Three National A-Standard, Top Ten Program Marks Aplenty Across Washington

SEATTLE/SPOKANE, Wash. – The Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field program were in action across the state of Washington today, as a pair of men's long distance runners participated in the Husky Classic, hosted by NCAA DI University of Washington in Seattle, while a handful of student-athletes competed in day one of the Whitworth Invitational, hosted by NCAA DIII Whitworth University at The Podium in Spokane.

"Our time in Washington has gotten off to a great start," shared Warriors' head coach Todd Bos. "Some highlights from today were Jack's national standard and program record race in Seattle, the first 4x800m race in women's history, the long jump crew doing well, and both Kayla and Aden moving to second on our all-time leaderboards in their respective events. Looking forward to seeing how we compete tomorrow in Seattle and at this great venue in Spokane. Always grateful to God for these opportunities."

The highlight of the day for the Warrior track & field programs came in the lone event Corban participated in at the Husky Classic, as junior Jack Gladfelter and senior Zander Moha both attempted to hit the national standard in the men's 5,000m race once again at the Dempsey Indoor Center. For a second-straight season, Gladfelter qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships, and this time in dominant fashion as he flew to a 14:11.21 personal best that ranks third in the country, broke the program indoor record, and represents only the seventh A-standard hit across the NAIA to date. Moha finished in 28th of the extremely stacked field of NCAA DI runners, just eight seconds off the national B-standard.

Across the state in western Washington, seven individuals competed for the Navy and Gold while another four ran the first women's 4x800m relay race in school history, which comprised of junior Shaelee Killorn, redshirt sophomore Shannel Killorn, sophomore Josie Rothman, and freshman Anna Dixon. The squad placed second behind fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) program Lewis-Clark State College, finishing ahead of both NCAA DIII schools Whitman College and Lewis & Clark College by 43 and 60 seconds, respectively.

The lone event winner of the day for the Warriors came in the women's long jump, as true freshman Ava Barnett continues to impress with a 5.33m leap to take the event crown ahead of numerous NAIA and NCAA jumpers. Junior Kirsten Kuenzi took fifth in the event at 5.15m, while freshman Ethan Medyanik scored a tenth place finish on the men's side.

Personal best marks for junior Aden Dardis in the men's weight throw (13.60m) and freshman Kayla Krueger in the women's pole vault (2.82m) moved the duo into second place on their respective Corban indoor record books, with Dardis just .16m off the school record and Krueger a mere .08m from her own program record.

Tomorrow, junior Braydon Lee will compete for the Warrior men's long distance crew in northwestern Washington, while the sprinters and hurdlers are in action back at The Podium.
