Corban Men’s Golf in Fourth Overall Following Day One of Shortened Columbia Basin Invite

RICHLAND, Wash. – Darkness settling in at the Meadow Springs Country Club in southeastern Washington resulted in an early finale of day one for the Corban University Men's Golf team, as the Warriors were unable finish the second round of play at the Columbia Basin Invitational and will pick up play tomorrow morning to finish their current round of 18 before beginning the final session in the afternoon.

"Our A-team is contending well against a couple of JC programs despite a tough course layout and unpredictable greens," explained Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. "Our first round shoutout goes to David for finishing on top of the individual leaderboard with several of his teammates in the top ten. Second round shoutout is Isaac for turning things around and rising into the top five before play was halted due to daylight in addition to Shane for playing consistently to stay up in the top ten. Overall, we're not satisfied with our play and look to make great improvements to hopefully land on top of the team leaderboard."

The Warriors (+57) were nestled in the top three of the team leaderboard following round one and sit just outside in fourth following the round two stoppage, where they trail Colleges of Spokane (+47) by ten team strokes and the tournament leaders in Bellevue College (+37) by twenty. The tournament host Hawks (+42) are in second, while fellow NAIA program Montana Tech (+60) is right behind Corban in fifth.

Topping the individual leaderboards of Warriors is freshman Isaac Laro (+10) from the Corban B-team, who has turned around from a +8 opening round by finishing round two just two strokes over par to sit in fourth place overall. Senior Shane Jacobus and junior David Harvey are both at +12 and tied for ninth, while senior Brayden Sparkman (+14) is tied for 19th to represent the top bags from the Navy and Gold A-team. Harvey and freshman Brendan Barbeau (+22) were the only two Warriors not able to finish their second round among a handful of golfers from other programs, and will both pick up with three holes to go in their second round tomorrow morning.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 10am tomorrow back at Meadow Springs Country Club, where live results of the final holes for round two along with the entirety of the final round will be available by Columbia Basin via their Golf Genius tournament page.
