AZUSA, Calif./ASHLAND, Ore. – For the second time in three days, the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs earned a national qualifier at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Southern California, this time represented by junior Braydon Lee in the men's 1,500m race where he broke his own school record by nearly three seconds among some of the top collegiate competition in the country. Meanwhile, the remainder of the Warrior track & field squads completed the final events at the Raider Invitational, hosted by Southern Oregon University at Raider Stadium.

"I'm really excited for Braydon," began Warriors' associate head coach Stuart Eagon, who was down in SoCal this week with Lee and junior Jack Gladfelter, who hit his own A-standard this past Thursday. "We've been hoping for a breakthrough for a while now and it happened this very evening! It was really cool to see him break his own school record by over 2.5 seconds and run the eighth fastest NAIA time this year. He definitely has the right heart in praising God for this race!"

Lee clocked a 3:48.81 final time in the men's 1,500m race today on the campus of NCAA DII Azusa Pacific University, where he finished 11th overall out of over 185 total athletes. His A-standard national qualifying time was nearly a full second better than the next NAIA competitor, Maximilien Filion from the University of British Columbia. He held the previous program record at 3:51.37 and shaved nearly three full seconds off it with his performance today.

"We had great weather for good marks at SOU today," shared Corban head coach Todd Bos who took the remainder of the programs to Ashland for the weekend. "Our sprinters were able to move up in the conference standings and get better heats/lanes for the conference meet. It is always a good team trip to Ashland, and this year didn't disappoint. On to our home meet next weekend! We are grateful to God for no injuries and the good results."

In Ashland, the highlight of day two at the Raider Invitational for the Navy and Gold came in the short distance races, beginning with junior Kirsten Kuenzi who bested her own program record in the women's 100m race, reducing the new school best mark to 12.25 seconds. On the men's side, junior Benjamin Krebs set a new personal best time of 10.93 in the men's 100m to qualify for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships next month, while senior DJ Armstead claimed the event title today with a 10.66 final time that was just 0.01 seconds off his own school record in the event.

One week from today, the Warrior track & field programs will host the second annual Nancy & Norm Berney Classic at the Outdoor Athletic Complex, where they'll honor longtime Hall of Fame coach Norm Berney and provide Warrior Nation with an opportunity to see their student-athletes in action at the foot of Corban's campus. Field events will begin at approximately 10:30am with track events set to kick off at 11am.
