Freshman Jenny Harman brought home the individual title in the javelin event Thursday with a school-record throw of 37.76 meters before returning to the track Saturday and unleashing a school-record throw of 35.03 meters in the discus.

Warriors Compete at Lewis & Clark Invitational

PORTLAND, Ore.
– In a star-studded event, Corban's men's and women's track & field team competed Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational at the Eldon Fix Track with three Warriors nearly qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Following a win in the javelin event on Thursday at the Willamette-Western Oregon Dual Meet for freshman Jenny Harman (Salem, Ore.) thanks to a school-record throw of 37.76 meters (123-feet, 11-inches), the Warriors had 35 athletes compete in 38 events.

As a team, Corban's women's squad finished sixth and the men's team placed seventh among the 13 schools competing.

On the men's side, two Warriors – junior David Anderson (Salem, Ore.) and freshman David Brown (Meridian, Idaho) – nearly qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in three different events.

Anderson, who has already qualified in the 400 meter hurdles, finished fourth in both the 200 meter dash thanks to a time of 22.52 and the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.68. Both times were within one second of meeting the NAIA's "B" Standard.

Brown became the second Warrior this season to capture an individual medal, as he won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:57.38. The first-year Warrior's time with less than 20 seconds off the NAIA's "B" Qualification standard.

Another highlight came in the women's 400 meter dash, as junior Bianca Davis (Ontario, Ore.) finished fifth with a time of 59.93 that was less than two seconds away from meeting the NAIA's "B" Standard.

In other track events, Corban placed two runners in the Top 10 including sophomore Courtney Welling (Springfield, Ore.) in the women's 800 meter run thanks to a time of 2:23.93 that resulted in a seventh place finish. Meanwhile, freshman Kate Tracy (Eagle, Idaho) placed seventh overall in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.51.

The relay events would result in a second place finish for the women's team in the 4x400 meter relay thanks to a time of 4:02.85, while the 4x100 meter relay team would conclude in third place one event earlier with a time of 50.23.

Competing for the first time all season, freshman Chandra Baskoro (Gresham, Ore.) placed 10th in the women's high jump clearing 1.40 meters (4-feet, 7-inches).

Fellow freshman Eliya Kohl (Salem, Ore.) finished fifth and eighth respectively in the triple and long jump with leaps of 10.57 meters (34-feet, 8.25-inches) and 4.73 meters (15-feet, 6.25-inches).

Freshman Christy Mosier (Bend, Ore.) would turn in a pair of Top 10 finishes in the women's discus and shot put. The first-year Warrior would unleash throws of 11.63 meters (38-feet, 2-inches) in the shot put that resulted in a sixth place finish before turning in a ninth place showing in the discus with a toss of 34.42 meters (112-feet, 11-inches).

On the men's side, junior Beau St. Peter (Salem, Ore.) would follow up Anderson's performance in the 400 meter dash with a 10th place finish thanks to a time of 51.56.

Freshman Taylor Adrian (Portland, Ore.) would turn in another Top 10 showing in the men's 1,500 meter run thanks to a time of 4:05.18, which resulted in a seventh place finish.

Joining Brown in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase was junior Jason Hardrath (Baker, Ore.), who finished fifth overall with a time of 10:33.04.

Following a fifth and third place showing respectively in the men's 4x400 and 4x100 meter relay races, freshman Seth James (Snyder, Colo.) moved to the field and finished 10th in the high jump clearing 1.75 meters (5-feet, 8.75-inches).

Freshman Noah Cunningham (Grants Pass, Ore.) would finish 10th in the men's triple jump with a leap of 11.95 meters (39-feet, 2.5-inches), which followed his 17th place finish in the long jump after a leap of 5.85 meters (19-feet, 2.5-inches).

Corban will return to the track on Saturday, April 24th, at the Saints & Cavalier Invite beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham.
