Anderson Wins 400 Meter at CCC Championships

DAY #2 RESULTS

GRESHAM, Ore.
– Junior David Anderson (Salem, Ore.) brought home the program's first-ever individual championship victory in the men's 400 meter run Friday at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships thanks to a school-record time of 49.16 at Earl Klapstein Stadium on the campus of Mt. Hood Community College.

"David ran an amazing race against some very tough competition," said fourth-year head coach Norm Berney. "The third and final heat feature many of the top 400 meter runners in the conference and David rose to the occasion and performed well beyond expectations."

Anderson's performance earned all-conference recognition and nearly qualified him for another event at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Unfortunately, the third-year Warrior narrowly missed meeting the NAIA's "B" qualification mark by less than .30 seconds. Anderson would earn the first points for Corban's men's track & field team gaining the full 10 points.

On the women's side, Corban's 4x100 meter relay team that included junior Bianca Davis (Ontario, Ore.), sophomore Jocelynn Smith (Yakima, Wash.), freshman Eliya Kohl (Salem, Ore.), and freshman Jacquelyn Taylor (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) met the NAIA's "B" qualification standard thanks to a time of 49.12. The Warriors finished third behind champions Concordia, who set a new track record, and Eastern Oregon, who also met the NAIA's "B" qualification mark.

In the women's 400 meter run, Davis also earned all-conference honors thanks to a fourth place showing in a time of 58.27 that was a mere .27 seconds off the NAIA's "B" qualification mark. Davis' performance set a new school-record becoming only the second runner in program history to post a time less than one minute.

Freshman David Brown (Meridian, Idaho) would set a school-record in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase thanks to a time of 9:48.47, which was good enough for a third place showing and all-conference recognition.
