MARION, Ind. – On the second day of the 2010 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, freshman
Christy Mosier (Bend, Ore.) and the women's 4x400 meter relay team competed Friday at IWU's Outdoor Complex in the shot put event and relay semifinals.
Despite finishing eighth in her flight, Mosier did not advance to the nine-person finals with a throw of 12.52 meters (41-feet, 1-inch). Overall, the first-year Warrior finished 23rd with Naomi Onyebuchi of Huston-Tillotson winning the event with a throw of 15.82 meters (51-feet, 11-inches).
Mosier was the lone Cascade Collegiate Conference representative in the event, as Lewis-Clark State's Kirsten Smith had the best finish for a West Coast institution thanks to her 17th place showing.
In the next-to-last event of the night, Corban's 4x400 meter relay team that consisted of sophomore
Jocelynn Smith (Yakima, Wash.), junior
Bianca Davis (Ontario, Ore.), freshman
Emilee Grubb (Bozeman, Mt.), and freshman
Jacquelyn Taylor (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) finished sixth in Heat #2 with a time of 3:56.48. Despite setting a new school-record in the event, the Warriors did not move onto Saturday's finals thanks to their 18th place finish overall therefore concluding Corban's competition at this year's NAIA Championships.
Wayland Baptist would post the best time in the event en route to winning Heat #1 with a time of 3:45.99, while none of the three Cascade Collegiate Conference schools including Concordia and Eastern Oregon moved beyond Friday's semifinal round.
Corban concludes its competition at the NAIA National Championships with both relay teams setting new school records in each respective race.
