Warriors Tune Up for Conference Championships

GRESHAM, Ore.
– In one last tune up before next weekend's conference championships, Corban's men's and women's track & field squads competed Friday at the Mt. Hood Twilight being held at Mt. Hood Community College.

Four athletes led the way for the Warriors with improvements on their season best marks.

Sophomore Jocelynn Smith (Yakima, Wash.) captured Corban's lone win at the meet with a lifetime best time of 1:05.34 in the women's 400 meter hurdles. The second-year Warrior's time, which is .09 seconds shy of the NAIA's “B” national qualifying standard, smashed her previous best of 1:08.29.

Junior Bianca Davis (Ontario, Ore.) recorded her best collegiate time in the women's 100 meters, as she took sixth place in the event thanks to a time of 12.70 improved her previous season best time of 13.03.

Freshman Eliya Kohl (Salem, Ore.) turned in two season bests on Friday beginning with the 100 hurdles, as she finished seventh with a time of 16.97. The time bettered her previous best of 17.15. In the triple jump, Kohl leaped to a second place finish at 34 feet, 9.50 inches (10.60 meters) surpassing her previous best mark of 34-feet, 8.25-inches (10.57 meters).

Fellow freshman Christy Mosier (Bend, Ore.) also turned in a pair of season improvements. Her heave of 41-feet, 0.25-inches (12.50 meters) was good for second place in the event and was just over a foot farther than her previous best (40-feet; 12.19 meters). In the discus, the first-year Warrior tossed another one foot-plus improvement, stretching the tape 116-feet (35.36 meters) bettering her previous best of 114-feet, 6-inches (34.89 meters).

The Warrior men and women now prepare for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships this weekend, May 13th-15th, also at Mt. Hood Community College. The three-day event begins at 4:00 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday, and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
