KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – In a game that was dominated offensively thanks to a 38-to-9 advantage in total shots, Corban's women's soccer team came away with a tie, 2-2 in double overtime, against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech Saturday at Trevor Derrah Field.
With tonight's result, Corban improves to 8-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Tonight's tie vaulted Corban into a tie for the final playoff spot with Northwest, as both teams have 10 points. Oregon Tech remains in first place in the current league standings thanks to the tie, as the Owls move to 6-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in CCC games.
As a team, Corban would put 12 more shots on goal (17-to-5) with Oregon Tech capitalizing on 40% of its shots en route to earning the tie.
Oregon Tech would get on the board in the fourth minute when Rebekah Nisbet teamed with Meghan Drost on a crossing pass from the right side, as Nisbet collected the ball and cut past a Warrior defender before unleashed a shot into the upper right corner of the net from 18 yards out for a 1-0 OIT lead at the 3:53 mark.
Less than seven minutes later, Corban would get the equalizer thanks to junior
Audrey Sullivan's team and conference-leading 11th goal of the season at the 10:10 mark. The third-year Warrior would receive a 15-yard pass from senior
Emily Tsugawa before beating an OIT defender to set herself up for a shot from 25 yards out that she placed perfectly into the upper left corner to tie the score at 1-1.
Nine minutes later, Oregon Tech would regain the lead when Drost teamed with Rylee Jones on a pass up the left sideline before unleashing a shot from 30 yards out into the upper right corner of the goal for a 2-1 Owl lead at the 19:05 mark.
Neither team would score again until the final five minutes when Tsugawa netted her 10th goal of the season and second this weekend thanks to a rebounded shot from four yards out into the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2 at the 85:50 mark. Tsugawa would begin the scoring play with an initial shot from the right side of the goal that was deflected by Oregon Tech's keeper only to got right back to Tsugawa, who calmly chipped in the equalizer with less than five minutes left on the clock.
Despite an offensive onslaught over the final four-plus minutes and a 10-1 advantage in shots during the two extra periods, Corban could not put the ball into the back of the net and had to take the result.

Alexis Beattie would play the opening 45 minutes between the pipes for Corban without a save before sophomore
Kaitlyn Mendenhall manned the Warriors' goal for the final 65 minutes with a team-high three saves. Oregon Tech's Rebekah Matteri kept the Owls in the game, as she tallied a game-high 13 saves en route to earning the tie.
Corban will return to action on Friday, October 19th, against the NAIA's No. 1-ranked Cavaliers of Concordia beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem. The Warriors will look to become the first conference team to score on Concordia this season, as Corban has only scored two goals against the Cavaliers since 2004 with both scores coming during the 2010 season.
