Warriors Pick Up Win in Final Game Before CCC Season

EUGENE, Ore. – In its final non-conference game of the season, Corban's women's soccer team used a pair of unanswered goals in the opening 55-plus minutes en route to earning a 2-1 victory over CCC rival Northwest Christian Saturday at Mike Kelly Field.

With today's victory, Corban evens its overall record at 4-4-1 and Northwest Christian falls to 2-6-0 on the season.

Freshman Madison Lash would put the visiting Warriors on the board in the fourth minute when she netted home her first collegiate goal off an assist from senior Emily Boudreau. At the 3:12 mark, Corban earned a corner kick that Boudreau sent into the box where Lash was waiting and pocketed the game's opening goal.

Neither team would score again in the opening half, as Corban outshot the host Beacons 7-to-4 with each team putting two shots on-target.

Just over ten minutes into the second half, senior Audrey Sullivan would score the eventual game-winning goal when she rifled a loose ball in the box into an empty net for her team-high tying fourth goal of the season.

Northwest Christian would pull within a single goal in the 58th minute when Lauren Schweitzer received a pass from Hailey Richmond and made it a one-goal game. Richmond would begin the scoring play with a quick through ball to Schweitzer, who struck from two-yards out making the score 2-1 in favor of Corban.

Over the final 30-plus minutes, neither team would find the back of the net as both teams closed out their non-conference schedule.

The goalkeeping duo of junior Kaitlyn Mendenhall and senior Alexis Beattie would combine to register six saves for the Warriors, as Mendenhall recorded a pair of first-half saves before Beattie tallied a game-high four saves over the final 45 minutes. Northwest Christian's Kristin Fulbright played the entire game between the pipes for the Beacons and tallied three saves.

Overall, Corban outshot Northwest Christian by four (13-to-9) that included a 6-to-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Warriors would also earn seven more corner kicks (8-to-1) than the host Beacons.

Corban will return to the pitch on Thursday, October 3rd, in its CCC opener against Oregon Tech beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Klamath Falls.
