LEWISTON, Idaho – The Corban University men's golf team competed in the LC State Invite on Monday and Tuesday in the Gem State. The Navy and Gold had a consistent tournament, as they shot a 309 in round one, a 307 in round two, and a 311 in round three. The squad rounded out the event with a sixth-place finish, racking up 927 strokes as a team.

"Our men's golfers put up a valiant effort for day two, but came up short in trying to overtake OIT," said head coach Charlie Marshall. "I am very proud of our guys and how they conducted themselves on and off the course."

Oregon Tech took the victory at the invitational (909 srokes), as they rode the two-under-par performance of Mayson Tibbs to the event title. 

Bushnell landed in second, as they finished seven strokes back (916) of OIT. 

Tying for third was Multnomah and College of Idaho at 919 strokes. 

Lewis-Clark State finished just a stroke behind the third-place finishers, as they shot a 920 as a group, taking fifth place. 

Walla Walla rounded out the list, as they finished in seventh place, having shot a 335 over the course of the three rounds.

RESULTS

The veteran, Kasey Crossland, stood out for the Warriors. The senior from Buhl, Idaho tied for fifth place as an individual. His eight-over-par tournament score was aided strongly by an impressive round of 71 (one-under-par) on Tuesday. He totaled 224 strokes throughout the three rounds.

McKinnley Reznicsek was the second Corban finisher, as he ended up tied for 11th. He shot +14 in the event, with a 77 (R1), 76 (R2), 77 (R3) line for the tourney.

"Kasey and Rez were steady performers," said Marshall.

The Warriors' third golfer on the list was Nick Torry, who ended up with sole possession of 19th place. The Canadian junior finished off the tournament with a nineteen-over-par score of 235 strokes.

The final counting score for Corban was from Riley White, who was tied for first place after round one, as he shot a 71. However, his next two rounds of golf were less impressive, as he shot an 83 in round two and an 84 in round three. He tied for 23rd place overall.

The Warriors have one more tune-up event before heading to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships in Caldwell, Idaho at Timberstone Golf Course. The Navy and Gold will compete in the Bushnell Spring Invite on April 26 and 27 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, Ore.
