Warrior Women’s Golf Notches Second-Straight 4th-Place Finish at LC Invite

LEWISTON, Idaho – Back in action for the second time this spring, the Corban University women's golf team notched its second-consecutive fourth-place finish at this week's Lewis-Clark State Invitational, hosted on Monday and Tuesday at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club. It was the second and final Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) tournament of the fall.

"Our ladies continued playing solid golf this week, even as they had to battle a dust storm that blew through on Monday and the loss of Haley [May] to a wrist injury," said assistant coach Christine Fordyce.

No. 8 British Columbia took home the team title at the event, sweeping the two-tournament CCC fall slate.

Corban tallied 669 strokes as a team (+93), led by Kelly Dunn, who ended the event in a tie for 12^th after shooting rounds of 76 (+4) and 82 (+10). Dunn's impressive round-one performance was the ninth best of all performers, helped along by a strong short game on day one.

Continuing her consistent start to the 2021-22 campaign, Delainey Rez signed scorecards of 80 (+8) and 81 (+9) to finish 14^th overall. In her four rounds so far this season, she has shot three rounds of 81 and a round of 80.

Tying for 17^th on the leaderboard, Kristin Senatra registered an 82 (+10) on day one and an 83 (+11) on day two, ranking third among the Navy and Gold roster. Corban's fourth and final counting score came from Haley Elsasser, who finished at 41-over 185 after the 36 holes of play. Elsasser's 91 on Monday marks a new career best.

Haley May notched a 91 on day one, but a wrist injury prevented her from competing on Tuesday.

"Congrats to Haley [Elsasser] for scoring a PR on Monday, and congrats to Kelly [Dunn] for her hot putting in her opening round of 76," Fordyce added.

The Warriors won't resume CCC competition until springtime, when the Navy and Gold hosts the Corban Spring Invite on April 11-12 at Creekside Golf Club. Meanwhile, the squad has three more tournaments slated for the fall, with the team's next event (Culturame Classic) taking place on October 2-3.
