SALEM, Ore. – The first tourney appearance of the spring season for the Corban University Women's Golf program wrapped up day one competition earlier this evening at the Warriors' home facility of Creekside Golf Club, where the Navy and Gold sit in a tie for eighth among the ten teams in attendance at the Willamette Valley Cup, hosted by NCAA DIII Willamette University, and are just one stroke away from seventh overall.

"I thought Maddy and Ashlyn played well today despite an otherwise struggling day all around," explained Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "We didn't take advantage of the great weather unfortunately, putting woes and approach shots were not our friends today."
The Dubs (356) battled up and down the leaderboard all day long before settling in a two-way tie for eighth alongside NCAA DIII University of Puget Sound, just a single team stroke behind fellow conference rival Bushnell University (355) and 14 strokes outside of the top five teams. NCAA DIII George Fox University (310) leads the team standings, while fellow CCC member Lewis-Clark State College (315) right on the Bruins' heels.
Warriors' sophomore duo Ashlyn Thomas and Madelyn Moore both completed rounds of 85 to sit in a four-way tie for 22nd following the opening round, while sophomore Yaone Mokgatle (88) was just three strokes behind alone in 33rd. Freshmen Riley Sparkman (98) and Jaycie Moubray (102) are in 47th and 52nd, respectively.
Tomorrow morning marks the final day of the 2026 Willamette Valley Cup, where the Navy and Gold will look to move up the team standings while Thomas and Moore attempt to crack into the top twenty individually.
