GLADEWATER, Texas – The Corban University Women's Golf team wrapped up competition today at their final non-conference tournament of the fall season in eastern Texas, where the ladies earned 709 team points to take home a 7th place team finish back to the Pacific Northwest.
"I'm extremely proud of how our ladies played on a difficult course with completely different grass than what they're used to," Warriors' Head Coach Charlie Marshall shared on his team's performance this week.
"Kristin played steady golf and handled the course pretty well, Kelly was long off the tees and had a hot putter, Samantha played really well and was great to see her hitting the ball well, and Abby shot a career best by breaking the century mark for the first time," Marshall elaborated.
Marshall concluded with, "Lastly, we were able to beat a team of five with only four team members, that's quite the accomplishment!"
In a complete field of NCAA DIII schools, Corban competed well against the southern universities, as they saw a Top 5 individual finish and their first team result of the season.
Warriors' junior Kristin Senatra found the podium in a three-way tie for 5th place, finishing the tournament with a 156 final score at (+12) strokes. She completed her final round just four strokes behind the top spot at (+8).
Senior Kelly Dunn finished at (+22) after her two rounds of golf at the Tempest Golf Club, as her 156 final score also placed her in a three-way tie for 18th place overall.
Competing in her second tourney of the year, senior Samantha Massie finished with 190 total points, tying for 35th overall. Senior Abbygail Furrow rounds out the Warrior Women's squad at (+53) for a 40th place finish, scoring 197 points for a season-best.
Corban Women's Golf will link back up with the men's team for the Bushnell Fall Invite at the end of the month, as they will travel down to the Eugene/McKenzie Bridge area of the Willamette Valley on October 24th and 25th.
