RV Corban Men’s Wrestling Blanks Visiting NCAA Boxers in Home Dual

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Men's Wrestling team (1-1) took down visiting NCAA DIII Pacific University (0-2) in style on their home mats this evening, shutting out the Boxers by a dominate 56-0 margin with six separate pins in their dual.

"Our freshman at the 125 and 133 weight classes, Brayden and Bo, were instrumental in gwting the team headed in the right direction tonight with two quick falls!" Corban Interim Head Coach Kary Hadden shared shortly after their dual results. "A great overall effort by the entire team tonight!"

Corban began the evening with an exhibition matchup between Warriors' senior Tyler Moore and Boxers' Spyre Nelson in a 197-weight bout, where Moore gained the early advantage and eventually won via major decision, 14-5.

Freshman Brayden Boyd dominated his 125-weight class matchup with Pacific's Thomas Turner, winning by technical fall 16-1 at the 5:23 mark. Meanwhile, fellow freshman Bo Davis kicked off the Warriors' streak of pins with a 4:18 takedown of Boxers' Joseph-Rodney Troyer.

Following a pair of forfeit wins in the 141 and 149 classes for Corban, the Warriors rallied off five-straight pins over the Boxers, starting with senior Michael Murphy's 2:27 fall of K'den McMullin. Freshman Austin Mattson followed with quick work of Francisco Endi, pinning him in 4:26.

Varied classes of interloping experience levels wrote the story of the next three pins, as junior Matthew Bartlett, redshirt freshman German Munoz, and sophomore Tyson Stover all defeated their opponents with falls in 1:28, 2:38, and 4:40, respectively. Junior Sven Lukner closed out the dual with an impressive 9-3 decision win over Ioudyn Reese to cap the Warriors' dominate dual victory over the Boxers.

The Corban Men's Wrestling team will take a short rest day before traveling to Clackamas Community College this upcoming Saturday for a dual with their superb NWAC wrestling program, with the dual scheduled to begin at 1pm PST.
