GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – Despite dry skies throughout the morning and into the afternoon, wet conditions that persisted from overnight affected the opening day of the Coastal Collegiate Classic, as the five schools in attendance at Salishan Golf Links fought through difficult scenarios from hole-to-hole in a challenging course layout.

"The conditions weren't ideal today but the men still handled the course well," Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall shared. "Jackson, Max and Shane shot well to keep us in the mix with a second place tie through 18 holes, still anyone's tournament!"

Simpson University (298) holds a slight two-stroke lead over the first teams for Corban University and Southern Oregon University, with both of their top squads each recording opening rounds of 300. The College of Idaho (305) finished in hot pursuit of the top three teams, with Texas Lutheran University (317), Southern Oregon's reserves (329), and Corban's reserves (352) concluding the team scoring.

On an individual basis, the Yotes' Parker Edwards led all student-athletes on the course today with the only red number of the day, shooting a 70 (-1) to hold a narrow advantage of Corban's senior Jackson Bragg who shot par for the day (71). Simpson's Josh Hein and TLU's Tobey Wills each shot a 72 to round out the top five through 18 holes of play.

Tee times for round two of the tourney will begin tomorrow at 9:10am for the men's squads, following the start of the women's tee times.
