GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – Heavy rain over the past two days on the Oregon Coast resulted in damp conditions all over the course for day one of the Coastal Collegiate Classic, yet the five schools in attendance fought through the difficult conditions to complete the opening round earlier this afternoon.

"Kristin and Amerika each did well considering their individual challenges," Corban head coach Charlie Marshall stated. "Amerika has continued to show signs of progress throughout the season, while Kristin's back nine elevated her to a solid lead for the tournament heading into day two."

Only two of the teams in attendance this week will qualify for a team result by having at least four golfers, as Southern Oregon University (354) holds a slight nine-stroke lead over NCAA DIII Texas Lutheran University (363).

Not qualifying for a team score didn't stop Corban University from taking the top individual placement following the first day of competition, as senior Kristin Senatra rebounded with a negative score on the back nine to finish with a 74 (+3) on the day and leads the next golfer by six strokes.

The top five consisted of exactly one golfer from each university, as Senatra was followed by Kiera Cheng (80) from SOU, Kaylee Jones (83) from The College of Idaho, Braydee Frederick (85) from TLU, and Michelle Euan (85) from Simpson University.

The women's tee times will swap with the men entering day two of the Coastal Collegiate Classic, meaning the first pairing will tee off at 8:30am tomorrow morning.
