SALEM, Ore. – The first dual of the 2024 year was a lopsided one for the RV Corban University Men's Wrestling team, as the Warriors nearly pitched a shutout of fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Simpson University earlier this evening at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center. The Navy and Gold secured a 42-3 dual victory against the Red Hawks with four technical falls, two pins, and a major decision. Simpson earned their only points in the final weight class thanks via a sudden victory round.

"Competing on a short week after two weeks off had me a little concerned, but I thought our guys competed well," Warriors' head coach Nolan Harris stated shortly after his program's dominant dual victory. "They were aggressive on their feet and did a good job of transitioning to their turns. Bo was able to tech fall a great opponent in Tomas Jacobo and turns ended up being the difference."
Regarding the final bout of the evening, Coach Harris shared, "I thought Sven wrestled a great match against a nationally ranked opponent in Jacob Vincent. Although he lost a close one, Sven's leg attacks were great. He did a good job of taking calculated risks and although he couldn't finish, his aggressive style was fun to watch and will undoubtedly pay off in the future. All in all, it was a good night of wrestling."
It was a complete Masterclass session tonight for the Warriors (5-1) in their dual against the Red Hawks, as Corban relinquished only a single weight class following the double forfeit in the 133 and Simpson forfeit in the 197. Sophomore Brayden Boyd and freshman Gus Menne were the only six-point recipients of the day, each earning first round pins to electrify the Warriors' home crowd.
A quartet of technical falls allowed the Navy and Gold to retain their undefeated record at home this season, as sophomore Bo Davis, redshirt junior David Rubio, freshman Andres Nicacio, and freshman Isaiah Twait all dominated their weight class opponents and provided 20 of the team's 42 total points this evening.
The lone shining star for the Red Hawks came in the form of 285-pounder and No. 20-ranked wrestler Jacob Vincent, who narrowly edged out Corban's Sven Lukner in the final matchup of the day to avoid the conference dual shutout.
