GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – The opening round of the 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic is in the books for the Corban University Women's Golf team, where the Warriors battled the coastal weather and find their two teams in fourth and fifth place among the five squads in action at the Salishan Golf Links. On an individual basis, sophomore Yaone Mokgatle is tied atop the leaderboard with a pair of student-athletes from Bushnell University and Simpson University in the Warriors' only hosted tournament of the 2025-26 season.

"Our ladies had lots of struggles today in keeping their ball in play," explained Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "They're disappointed in their play but believe they can turn things around tomorrow. Shoutout to Yaone's great round, as she's tied for the lead and played exceptionally well."
The Beacons (341) are in the lead for the team title through one round of play with a 31-stroke lead over the Red Hawks (372) and Bellevue College (372), while the Warriors' A-team (377) is just five strokes outside of a top two team finish in their fourth tourney appearance of the fall season.
Mokgatle (83) is knotted up in first overall alongside Bushnell's Jada Richwine and Simpson's Katelyn Miller, with the next member of the Navy and Gold appearing just outside of the top ten where freshman Riley Sparkman (96) holds the No. 11-overall spot on the leaderboard. Freshman Jaycie Moubray (98) and sophomore Madelyn Moore (100) represent the final two A-team scorers for Corban women's golf today, while sophomore Ashlyn Thomas (101) was right behind Moore in 18th.
The Warriors' B-team saw true freshman Haley McDonald (98) as their top performer across the afternoon who is in a three-way tie for 13th, followed by freshman Taylor Wirth (100) in 16th, sophomore Kaylee Umbright (108) in 21st, and freshman Brianna Spurgin (118) in 22nd.
Tomorrow morning, tee times for the final round of the 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic will begin at 8am, with the groups of leaders kicking off the final tee times no later than 9:03am.
