Corban Men’s Golf Eyes CCC Championships Following Bounce Back Final Round in Southern Oregon

EAGLE POINT, Ore. – The Corban University Men's Golf team reduced their team score once again in the final round of the SOU Spring Invite at the Stone Ridge Golf Club, as the Navy and Gold put together the fifth best round of the day by the nine teams in attendance and look to carry their momentum into the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships later this month.

"I'm really proud of how the guys bounced back and were solid across the board," stated Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "The course was challenging, but credit to how they stayed patient from start to finish. It feels great to be sub-300, and we hope to build on that for our conference championships."

As a team, the Warriors (910) finished seventh overall after hopping the Lions of Multnomah (918) over the final stretch, climbing to within seven strokes of the College of Idaho (903) and nine of Bushnell University (901). Lewis-Clark State College and the University of British Columbia tied for the team title at -10, where the Thunderbirds emerged victorious in the final hole tiebreaker by five strokes. The tourney host Southern Oregon University squad (862) finished in third and represented the only other team to finish under par. LC State's Alex Navarro took home medalist honors at -7 over the three-round tourney.

Corban junior Brayden Sparkman led the program on the individual leaderboard with his second-straight round of 73 to finish +5 on the week and in a tie for 16th, followed by senior Max McDonough who was just a single stroke behind Sparkman in a three-way tie for 18th. Junior Andy Austen put together his lowest score of the tourney with a 75 to finish +17 and in 37th, while sophomore David Harvey tied for 40th place at +21 and sophomore Owen Heath was in 42nd just a stroke behind Harvey. Sophomore Brock Nelson, who was golfing as an individual this week in the Navy and Gold polos, placed 44th and was +24 over three rounds of collegiate golf.

The Warriors will begin the 2025 CCC Championships on Monday, April 21st and play a single round per day running to Wednesday, April 23rd, where both a team and individual CCC Champion will be crowned at the Glendoveer Golf Club in Portland, Oregon.
