Beacons Best Warriors in Friendly Exhibition Dual

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – For a third-consecutive school year, the Corban University Men's and Women's Golf programs kicked off their fall slate with a head-to-head exhibition dual against fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) member Bushnell University, where the Warriors struggled to find their day-one footing and dropped both the men's and women's duals to the Beacons. The Corban men fell 745-to-791 through two rounds, while the women dropped a 345-to-397 single-round team score.

"For the start of our season, today was not how we had hoped to play," explained Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. "We had some positives out there on the course, but there are still many areas of our game to work on as get ready for our first conference match next week."

The top performer from either of the Corban golf squads in action today was represented by senior Brayden Sparkman and his rounds of 76 and 74 to finish in a tie for third overall with Beacons' Trison Hedges. On the women's side, true freshman Jaycie Moubray was the first of three Warriors to finish under 100, followed by sophomores Ashley Thomas and Madelyn Moore who each shot a 99.

Joining Sparkman in the top ten finishers for the men wad junior David Harvey (156) and senior Andy Austen (157) who finished in seventh and ninth overall, respectively. Nine newly signed recruits for the Navy and Gold saw their first collegiate competition as Warriors throughout Friday, which included sophomore Kaylee Umbright (101) and freshmen Riley Sparkman (102), Haley McDonald (111), Brianna Spurgin (135), Brendan Barbeau (162), Isaac Laro (162), Bo Parnell (173), Micah Curtis (174), and Lucas Savag (183).

On September 8th and 9th, the first Cascade Conference tournament of the 2025-26 school year will take place at the Wine Valley Golf Club in southwestern Washington, as Walla Walla University will host the first of three CCC tournaments this regular season.
