WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The 2025 fall slate for the Corban University Women's Golf team is now in full swing following the opening round of the Wine Valley Invitational, hosted by Walla Walla University, where the Warriors are sitting in eighth place overall through 18 holes played at the Wine Valley Golf Club in the first Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) sponsored tournament of the year.

"I'm very pleased with our play today, especially for our new gals," expressed Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. "If we can keep our shots out of the wasteland and post lower scores, we can end up in good shape. Ashlyn played extremely well to lead our team. The others now know what to do tomorrow and I have confidence in them that they can improve."

Only a single CCC golfer managed to submit a red number on her final scorecard from today's round, as Keira Hou from No. 2-ranked University of British Columbia leads the field at -3 (69) with one round still to play tomorrow morning. The Thunderbirds holds a 12-stroke team lead over The College of Idaho, who shot an even 288 across their four bags to sit at par as a squad.

Following the Yotes in team scoring was No. 25-ranked Lewis-Clark State College (303), No. 21-ranked Oregon Tech (305), and Southern Oregon University to round out the top five programs. Bushnell University (334) and host Walla Walla (335) are separated by just a single stroke, while the Warriors (368) can make up ground in the final round tomorrow morning if they want to edge out the Beacons and Wolves in southwestern Washington.

Representing the Navy and Gold furthest up the leaderboard is sophomore Ashlyn Thomas who finished the day with front and back nine scores of 41 for a round of 82, placing her in a tie for 24th overall with Walla Walla's Raegan Boyse. Fellow sophomore Madelyn Moore (91) is in a three-way tie for 34th, while a freshmen duo of Haley McDonald (95) and Riley Sparkman (100) make up the final two Warrior team scorers in 39th and 41st, respectively. Sophomore Kaylee Umbright is right behind Sparkman in 42nd with a single round to play.

Tomorrow morning, the Warriors will hit the course once again and wrap up the first of two tournament appearances in October, with a nearly three-week training period scheduled between Wednesday and October 29th.
