Women’s Golf Season Preview – Resilient Core Eyes Growth in Competition Ahead of 2026-27 Season

SALEM, Ore. – Following a season of development with one of the youngest rosters in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC), the Corban University Women's Golf program enters the 2026-27 campaign with optimism under head coach Charlie Marshall. Featuring three returning competitors who gained valuable conference experience a season ago and one talented newcomer, the Warriors will look to continue their upward trajectory while building consistency throughout the year.

"With three returners setting the pace, the addition of one new freshman will be mentored while helping everyone to focus hard on being the best they can be," shared Marshall when discussing the makeup of this year's squad.

Season Schedule/Key Matchups

The Warriors will kick off the fall season at the annual Bushnell Fall Dual before traveling to the Oregon Tech Fall Invitational in early September. Corban's autumn slate also includes appearances at the Bearcat Invitational, The Warrior Fall Invitational, Tall Timber Invitational, and the OUAZ Fall Invitational before concluding the fall schedule with their Alumni Ryder Cup.

During the spring, the Navy and Gold will host the Corban Spring Invite at Creekside Golf Club before turning their attention to the season's most important event, the CCC Championships. Strong showings throughout the regular season will be crucial as the Warriors seek to gain momentum heading into conference competition.

Conference Outlook

The CCC remains one of the NAIA's most competitive golf conferences, featuring nationally ranked programs and experienced rosters throughout the league. Last spring, the Warriors finished eighth at the conference championships while relying heavily on underclassmen throughout the lineup. Despite the placement, Corban showed steady improvement during the spring campaign and returns several golfers who gained valuable experience against conference competition.

With another year of collegiate competition under their belts, the Warriors are hopeful that their returning core can translate last season's lessons into lower scores and improved team finishes in 2026-27.

Key Losses/Returners

While the women's program experienced significant roster turnover following the 2025-26 season, including sophomore Yaone Mokgatle, Corban returns three key contributors who formed the foundation of last year's lineup.

Leading the returning group are juniors Madelyn Moore and Ashlyn Thomas, both of whom served among the team's top performers at the 2026 CCC Championships. Moore finished 32nd individually, while Thomas placed 31st and consistently occupied one of the program's top bags throughout the spring season.

Junior Kaylee Umbright adds additional experience to the roster entering her second season with the Warriors. The Missouri native competed in multiple tournaments during the 2025-26 campaign and will provide veteran leadership for a roster that remains youthful but increasingly experienced.

Together, Moore, Thomas, and Umbright will be asked to lead a small but determined squad as the Warriors continue building toward greater success within the conference standings.

Newcomers to Watch

The Warriors welcome one freshman to the program in Amanda Ramirez of La Habra, California. Ramirez arrives at Corban following a successful prep career at both La Serna High School and La Habra High School, highlighted by a memorable hole-in-one during CIF competition. She also brings a handicap of 10 and a passion for continuing her development at the collegiate level.

With only four student-athletes currently on the roster, Ramirez could become an immediate contributor while gaining valuable experience from the program's returning golfers.

Warrior Whims (Final Thoughts)

The 2026-27 season represents a new chapter for Corban women's golf. While the roster is smaller than in previous years, the Warriors possess a trio of returning competitors who have already proven themselves at the conference level and a freshman capable of providing immediate depth.

Success this season will be measured not only by team finishes but also by continued player development and consistency throughout tournament play. If Corban's returning golfers continue the progress they displayed throughout the spring and Ramirez adapts quickly to collegiate competition, the Warriors have the potential to surprise opponents and take meaningful steps forward within the CCC.

For a program built around growth, resiliency, and a tight-knit team culture, the upcoming campaign provides an exciting opportunity to continue laying the foundation for future success on the links.
