BOX SCORE

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Despite sophomore Emily Tsugawa (Gladstone, Ore.) scoring her team-leading 15th goal of the season, Corban's women's soccer team fell to Trinity Christian, 3-1, Saturday at Austin-Tindall Regional Park to finish fourth overall at the 2010 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament.

After a scoreless opening 26-plus minutes, Trinity Christian got on the scoreboard first in the 27th minute when the Trolls' Sarah Tadla took a short pass from Stefanie Geer and unleashed a shot in the box that found the back of the net for the game's opening goal.

Neither team would score again for the remainder of the first half, as Trinity Christian took its one-goal advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Corban had a golden opportunity when senior Katie Hanson (Salem, Ore.) unleashed a shot from the top of the box that ricocheted off the cross bar before being cleared away by TCC's defense in the 52nd minute.

Just over 15 minutes later, Trinity Christian extended its lead to two goals with Ali Wyder cracked a shot from the top of the box that found the back of the net for the eventual game-winning goal and a commanding 2-0 lead for the Trolls in the 68th minute.

Corban would finally get on the board just over 10 minutes later when Tsugawa netted the 21st goal of her young career via a shot from inside the box that pulled the Warriors back within a single goal, 2-1, in the 78th minute.

Less than a minute later, Trinity Christian regained its two-goal lead when the Trolls' Allison Doyle scored the team's third and final goal of the afternoon via a shot from the top of the box that eluded Corban's goalkeeper in the 79th minute.

Not wanting to end their season on the losing end, the Warriors attempted to mount a comeback over the final 20-plus minutes as Corban unleashed three shots to Trinity Christian's zero. Unfortunately, neither of the shots could find the back of the net as junior Amanda Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) cracked one high to go along with a pair of TCC saves on shots by freshman Rileigh Mankin (Manteca, Calif.) and Tsugawa in the 84th and 86th minute respectively.

Freshman Alexis Beattie (Brea, Calif.) registered four saves in goal for Corban, while Hannah Gonzales recorded a game-high eight saves for Trinity Christian en route to picking up the win.

Corban out shot Trinity Christian by six (21-15), while also earning the edge in shots on goal (9-7).

With today's season-ending result, Corban concludes its 2010 season with win-loss record of 17-6-0. Meanwhile, Trinity Christian finishes third overall at this year's NCCAA Tournament and concludes its season at 18-4-2 overall.

NOTE: At the conclusion of the 2010 NCCAA National Tournament, Hanson capped of an amazing four-year career by being named as part of the all-tournament team.
