Freshman Christy Mosier brought home the program's first-ever throwing trophy Friday at the second annual Pacific Northwest Relays.

Warriors Finish 4th at Pacific Northwest Relays

OREGON CITY, Ore.
– At the second annual Pacific Northwest Relays, Corban's men's and women's track & field teams posted a pair of fourth place finishes that included a victory in the women's shot put for freshman Christy Mosier (Bend, Ore.) Friday night at Oregon City High School.

The evening would begin with freshman Taylor Wilkins (Milwaukie, Ore.) competing in the men's shot put finishing 10th thanks to a throw of 10.33 meters (33-feet, 10.75-inches).

Mosier would then step into the throwing pit and win the women's shot put by almost two feet thanks to a throw of 11.91 meters (39-feet, 1-inch). The first-year Warrior's victory would be the first-ever for Corban in a throwing event.

Freshman Rian Miller (Plummer, Idaho) would be the next Warrior to step into the throwing pit, as she competed in the women's discus finishing fourth with a throw of 29.97 meters (98-feet, 4-inches).

Wilkins would return to the throwing pit in the next event, as he competed in the men's discus finishing 10th with a throw of 32.91 meters (108-feet).

School-record holder and freshman Jenny Harman (Salem, Ore.) would be the next Warrior to compete, as she finished second in the women's javelin with a throw of 35.58 meters (116-feet, 9-inches).

A pair of Warriors – freshman Bryce Petersen (Salem, Ore.) and freshman Jefferson Forrest (Springfield, Ore.) – would be the next Warriors to compete, as the duo finished sixth and 13th respectively in the men's javelin. Petersen would unleash a throw of 46.04 meters (151-feet), while Forrest registered a throw of 32.40 meters (106-feet, 3-inches).

Freshman Eliya Kohl (Salem, Ore.) was the first Warrior to compete in a jumping event, as she finished fourth in the women's triple jump thanks to a leap of 10.39 meters (34-feet, 1.25-inches).

The women's 800 sprint medley team of Mosier, freshman Kelsey Childers (Milton-Freewater, Ore.), freshman Kate Tracy (Eagle, Idaho), and sophomore Amy Renfro (Albany, Ore.) would finish fourth with a time of 2:05.14.

In the men's 800 sprint medley race, Corban's 'A' team that included freshman Joseph Summers (Canby, Ore.), Forrest, sophomore Cory Shields (Jefferson, Ore.), and Petersen would finish fifth thanks to a time of 1:44.74.

The men's 4x100 meter relay team that consisted of freshman Noah Cunningham (Grants Pass, Ore.), Shields, Summers, and freshman Seth James (Snyder, Colo.) would finish fourth in a time of 47.40 seconds.

In the first individual running event of the evening, Tracy and Childers would finish seventh and ninth respectively in the women's 200 meter dash. Tracy clocked a time of 29.52, while Childers turned in a time of 30.35.

The men's 200 meter dash would feature a trio of Warriors – Cunningham, Petersen, and Forrest – that finished 9th, 12th, and 14th respectively. Cunningham had the fastest Corban time at 25.03, while Petersen (25.52) and Forrest (26.60) all broke the 27-second mark.

In the 24th event of the evening, Corban's distance medley team that included freshman David Brown (Meridian, Idaho), freshman Jacob Bowdoin (Grants Pass, Ore.), James, and junior Jason Hardrath (Baker, Ore.) finished third with a time of 10:58.64.

Corban's next-to-last event of the night would feature Tracy in the women's 100 meter hurdles, as she finished eighth in a time of 18.19.

Freshman Melody Haidle (Ontario, Ore.) would be the final Warrior to compete, as she ran in the 3,000 meter run and finished eighth thanks to a time of 12:20.60.

Corban's men's and women's track & field teams will compete next on Saturday, April 17th, at the Pioneer Open in Portland beginning at 9:00 a.m.

NOTE: Freshman Lauren Cross (Missoula, Mt.) was the lone Warrior to run at the John Knight Twilight on Friday, as she finished 25th in the women's 1,500 meter run thanks to a time of 5:20.58.
