BOX SCORE PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite a valiant effort from the Corban University women's soccer team against the top ranked team in the country on Saturday night, the Warriors could not overcome a second-half goal from Concordia University, resulting in a tough 1-0 defeat. For the Warriors, it was their second-consecutive loss to open their 2014 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) campaign.
The two sides battled through a scoreless first half, with the Cavaliers generating the majority of the chances. By the halftime break, Corban had been outshot by Concordia, 12-2, while also being edged in the corner-kick battle, 5-0. Mendenhall and the Warrior defense continued to fight during the second half, but the breakthrough finally came for Concordia in the 71st minute when Erin Huisingh whipped in a corner kick to Shannon McMahon who connected with a header into the back of the net.
The Warriors tried to find the equalizer during the final 20 minutes, but it was not to be, as Corban fell via the 1-0 score-line.

Mendenhall, in what was her first match back from injury, totaled six saves in the loss.
"I was pleased with our effort tonight," commented head coach Marty Ziesemer. "Concordia is very deserving of their ranking, but we caused them some challenges and they definitely had to earn their win."
