SALEM, Ore. – There's a buzz surrounding the Corban University women's soccer team that is undeniable. After surpassing virtually all of the outsider expectations placed on them during the 2021 spring season and finishing just a game back of the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) West Division Champions in the previous campaign, Corban feels more than capable of making a run at the top of the ever-competitive CCC this fall.

"We can't wait to see what our family is made of," said director of soccer Tim Kagey. "We've just been counting down the days."
There's good reason for the excitement following the squad, as all five of its top goal-scorers from the spring—Juliana Pires, Mei Suetsugu, Skyla Vogelpohl, Chanel Garcia, and Jamine Biava—are back this fall.
The Warriors collected five All-Conference honorees last year—Pires, Suetsugu, Moe Sato, Maria-Frances Serrant, and Garcia—and all of them have returned to the pitch for the squad's 2021 campaign.
Pires (six goals, five assists last season) and Suetsugu (six goals, two assists) form as dangerous an attacking duo as any in the CCC, and the two figure to once again lead the charge offensively for the squad this fall.
Serrant is another potent presence for the Navy and Gold, and her athleticism makes her a must-watch talent.
After a successful summer competing for the Charlotte Eagles of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL), Sato will look to build off her impressive debut season for the Warriors this spring. After redshirting the 2019 campaign and playing in just 11 games last spring due to the shortened season, Warrior fans are eager to see Sato in action for a full season this fall.
Corban has depth in goal, with Makida Herbert—a newcomer to the squad who has previously competed on the Trinidad and Tobago U-17 National Team—more than capable of anchoring the Warriors in net. Devan Archer had a strong season last year for Corban, and is back for the 2021 fall season, as well.

The Warriors already competed in an exhibition match against NCAA Division I University of Oregon. The game came down to the wire, as Corban held the Pac-12 powerhouse scoreless until the 78th minute, eventually falling by a narrow 2-0 margin.
The Navy and Gold will officially begin its fall season tomorrow on the road against NCAA Division III Pacific University.

That will be the first of four road non-conference matches for the Warriors before opening CCC play on the road at Carroll College on September 19.
After enduring a rigorous three-game road swing—which spans three different states—to begin conference competition, Corban will return to the comforts of the CFC Soccer Complex for its home opener against Warner Pacific on October 1.
Fans will then have a chance to watch the Warriors at home for six-consecutive contests before Corban heads south for a crucial weekend against Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech on October 22-23, and then finishes the regular season at home against Bushnell University on October 30.
The CCC Championships are slated to take place on November 9-12 in Springfield, Ore., while the NAIA Tournament will begin on November 18.
