SALEM, Ore. – Corban University women's soccer star Maria-Frances Serrant has been named to the Trinidad and Tobago senior women's national team, joining the squad for its upcoming battle with Nicaragua for qualification in the upcoming 2022 CONCACAF World Championship. Serrant joins alumna Annouscka Kordom (Namibia) and teammate Asia Jackson (Guam) as the third member in program history to compete at the national team level.

"We are excited for Maria to compete for her country on such a big stage," said director of soccer Tim Kagey. "We are proud to have her be a part of Warrior Nation and know she will represent both Trinidad and Tobago and Corban University well."

It's been an incredible year for Serrant, who was named an NAIA Honorable-Mention All-American and the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Offensively Player of the Year on the heels of her 2021 campaign.

She ranked second in the conference in goals (13)—which was the program's most in a single season since 2013—and second in points-per-game (1.81).

Now, she is the youngest athlete on the 22-player senior national roster for Trinidad and Tobago, which will be competing against Nicaragua in a qualifier for the 2022 CONCACAF World Championship, which will help determine who will advance to the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The contest will take place at 3 p.m. local time at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
