LA GRANDE, Ore. – Multiple weeks of consistent growth and personal records (PR) set at almost every meet for the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams have all led to this upcoming conference championship meet, where the Warriors anticipate adding even more national qualifiers over the two-day Cascade Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Eastern Oregon University.

Warriors' Head Coach Todd Bos will be sending 27 student-athletes to the upcoming championship meet, with two men's javelin throwers having already met the NAIA qualifying mark for the 2023 Outdoor National Championships in Marion, Indiana set for the end of the May.
The first highlight that Warrior Nation can expect from the Navy and Gold this weekend comes in the form of speedy junior sprinter Hero Peters, who enters the meet as the third overall seed in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.29. She looks to shave some milliseconds off her season best in order to become the third Corban student-athlete to qualify for the national meet. Peters will also be competing in the women's 200m dash and women's 4x100m relay race as the anchor for the team.
Another Warrior that sits just one solid PR length away from a national qualifying time is junior distance runner Samantha Dara, who competed for the first time in the women's 3,000m steeplechase earlier this season and easily qualified with a CCC qualifying mark. She'll enter Friday's race as the five seeded runner for the category and will serve as the second leg in the women's 4x400m relay race to end the meet on Saturday.
Swapping direction to the field portion of the meet, sophomore thrower Gabrielle Tata-Rodrigues enters the women's discus competition as one of the top performers thus far this season, with a qualifying mark of 37.21m that gives her a second overall placement to kickstart the day on Saturday morning.
Tata-Rodrigues will enter with the ninth best seed mark in the women's hammer throw, while junior thrower Jaelene Diaz-Chavez looks to improve upon her season best as the seven seed in the same event with a mark of 45.75m.
Switching focus to the men's field, freshman sprinter DJ Armstead will look to build upon his incredible performance at the OSU High Performance Meet a few weeks ago where he ran the third fastest men's 100m dash time in program history, logging an even 11.00 flat to qualify as the seventh fastest time entering the conference championships. He will run in the men's 200m dash as the eleventh qualifying mark later on Saturday's schedule, while also serving as the lead leg in both the men's 4x100m and 4x400m relay races.
Junior thrower Matthew Araki secured a top 10 qualifying mark to enter the men's hammer throw with the seventh best seed of 45.85m. As the sole Corban student-athlete in the event, Araki will look to PR once again this season if he hopes to earn All-Conference honors.
Finally, the lone NAIA National Championship qualifying Warrior to compete this weekend will be freshman thrower Evan Olson, whose qualifying mark of 59.17m allows him to enter as the fourth overall seed in one of the most competitive fields this meet has to offer.
