Moha Breaks School Record in Men’s 1,500m Race as Warriors Complete Day One at Raider Invitational

ASHLAND, Ore. – Yet another record fell today for the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs as the Warriors concluded day one at the Raider Invitational, where over half of the Navy and Gold competitors today set personal or season best marks in the first two-day meet involving the entirety of both the outdoor teams.

"We had a great start to our meet down at SOU," commented Warriors' head coach Todd Bos. Many PR and season best's by the athletes. To have both teams in full make the trip and see the camaraderie and encouragement amongst them is great to see. Special shoutout to Zander for setting a new school record in the 1,500m tonight, and to Braydon for running the second fastest time right behind him. As always, we are grateful to God for the ability to compete, each individual on the team, and for a safe trip down to this meet."

The Warriors were clearing enjoying the southern Oregon weather through the opening day of competition in Ashland, as a handful of runners and field athletes raced, jumped, and threw to unexplored territories in each of their respective events. With the conference championships less than a month away, student-athletes are closing in on either perfecting their current events or looking to qualify over the next few weeks in order to book their tickets to Klamath Falls.

The highlight of the meet for Corban belongs to sophomore long-distance runner Zander Moha, who broke Robert Swoboda's all-time best mark in the men's 1,500m race by over a second today, as he finished with a 1:55.27 to move even closer to hitting the NAIA standard he currently trails by just over a full second. Freshman Braydon Lee was right on Moha's heels as they neared the finish line, as he finished three-tenths of a second behind him to slide into second place on the all-time leaderboards.

With the marks, both Moha and Lee have qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships in May, with senior Samantha Dara joining the new qualifiers by finishing third in the women's 1,500m race, clocking in at 4:50.84 for the new 89th best time in the nation thus far this season.

Among the three new additions to the CCC qualifying list, multiple Warriors logged new personal and season best marks, which on the men's side included: sophomore Noah Andres – 1,500m (4:19.37), sophomore DJ Armstead – 200m (22.34), freshman Aden Dardis – discus throw (36.15m), senior Noah Miller – 200m (24.96), and sophomore Alek Richter – 200m (23.99).

On the women's sideline, Dara was joined in obtaining personal and season bests by: junior Kristi Hirte – 200m (28.46), freshman Kirsten Kuenzi – 200m (26.71), junior Leah Nastri – pole vault (2.95m) and triple jump (9.21m), freshman Malena Robnett – discus throw (28.46m), junior Gabrielle Tata-Rodrigues – discus throw (38.98m), sophomore Leah Twede – discus throw (29.39m), and freshman Johnna Waddell – pole vault (2.95m).

Day two of the Raider Invitational will feature the remainder of the track and field events on the campus of Southern Oregon University, beginning as early as 10am back at Raider Stadium.
