Whyte Introduces Twelve 2024 Recruits to Corban Women’s Soccer Program

SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Soccer team has revealed the twelve recruits that will be joining the ranks of navy and gold clad student-athletes for the upcoming 2024 fall season. Eleven of the recruits originate from up and down the Pacific Northwest, while a single student-athlete hails from southern California. Ten of the youngsters will garner true freshman status this upcoming year and two transfers from local community colleges will pave the way for the otherwise young Corban roster.

"Words can't describe the quality and depth we have coming into the program this season," explained Warriors' head coach Travez Whyte. "We are excited to have each new Warrior bring their God-given talents, skills and personalities that will only continue to help us reach higher levels of success both on and off the field! Come follow your Warriors on this exciting journey!"

To read more about the twelve new additions to the Corban women's soccer program, see below for a brief biography assigned to each of the brand new Warriors.

Abril Dimas Camacho – Midfielder – 5'5" – Junior – Salem, Ore. – South Salem HS/Chemeketa CC

A local prodigy who moves just down the road from Chemeketa Community College to join the Warriors, Dimas Camacho appeared in 22 games for the Storm over two seasons, scoring a goal from the midfield and placing shots on goal in 80% of her shot attempts. She'll join the program with two seasons of eligibility remaining as one of the most experienced collegiate players in this year's class, having also helped clinch an NWAC South Region Championship in 2023 for Chemeketa.

Dimas Camacho will continue the pursuit of a degree in criminal justice/forensic psychology with dreams of one day serving as a patrol/correctional officer.

Kelsey Guzon – Defender – 4'11" – Redshirt Freshman – Lebanon, Ore. – Lebanon HS/Lane CC

The second of two community college transfers joining Coach Whyte and the Warriors this fall season stems from a family all too familiar with the CCC, as Guzon's older sister Kianna is entering her senior season on the women's soccer at Oregon Tech and will see the two sisters square off on September 27th at the OAC on Corban's campus. After redshirting for a season at Lane Community College, Guzon will bring her Second Team All-League high school experience to the NAIA and bolster a formidable defensive unit that the Warriors possess.

Guzon will be joining Corban's newly developed nursing program in hopes of one day becoming a cosmetic nurse.

Hosanna Lacine – Forward – 5'10" – Freshman – Portland, Ore. – La Salle Catholic College Prep/California Baptist Univ.

The final collegiate transfer of Coach Whyte's 2024 recruiting class will enter with a full four years of eligibility remaining, as Lacine spent a year at California Baptist University pursuing her successful academic path and even earning Provost Honor Roll this past spring. Lacine originally played girls' soccer at Milwaukie High School and La Salle Catholic College Prep prior to last fall and will pick up right where she left off, but now donning the navy and gold jerseys.

Lacine will join the Warriors' brand new nursing program this upcoming fall term.

Maya Alston – Forward – 5'4" – Freshman – Keizer, Ore. – McNary HS

Having played out her senior season as a 15-goal, 7-assist forward for McNary High School and former head coach Josh Rios Noonkester who now directs the Corban men's soccer team, Alston represents exactly what Coach Whyte strives to find in each of his recruiting classes for the Warrior women's soccer program. As a three-time All-Conference selection, four-year varsity starter, leading goal scorer in 2023, and a First Team All-League striker, Alston helped lead the Celtics to a long-awaited playoff appearance for the OSAA State Tournament, which eventually led to her being selected as a nominee for both Women's Athlete of the Year and SB Live Best Striker for the state of Oregon.

Alston will be studying business management with an emphasis in marketing as she prepares for a career in real estate/interior design.

Siwemba Chilumba – Forward – 5'2" – Freshman – Salem, Ore. – North Salem HS

Another multi-sport athlete for Coach Whyte, Chilumba brings plenty of athleticism with her to the Warrior women's soccer program, having played girls' soccer, basketball, track & field, and softball at North Salem High School. She was a varsity starter for the program when they last held a varsity team in 2021, finishing all four years with the Vikings before the start of her Warrior collegiate career this upcoming fall.

She plans on studying business administration with an emphasis on leadership & management during her time at Corban.

Maia Deebach – Defender – 5'5" – Freshman – Tonasket, Wash. – Tonasket HS

Athletic prowess runs deep in Deebach's household, as she'll become the fourth member of her immediate family to compete in intercollegiate athletics, following the footsteps of her father Matthew (Western Oregon University - men's wrestling), mother Tara (Wenatchee Valley College - women's basketball), and sister Jacie (Centralia College - softball). Having competed in five different sports at Tonasket High School in girls' soccer, basketball, softball, wrestling, and track & field, she brings a pure athleticism with her to the Corban program, having earned All-League honors in each of the five sports, most notably as a First/Second Team All-League and Second Team All-State defender in her three-time state tournament appearances.

Deebach will be joining the Warriors' agricultural education/science program.

Emma Franklin – Forward – 5'6" – Freshman – Beaverton, Ore. – Westview HS

Three years of varsity girls' soccer combined with a single year of both basketball and track & field has prepared Franklin for her collegiate career at Corban, as she'll join a crowded attacking front for the Warriors looking to help improve their offensive structure under Coach Whyte. Also a member of the NW Elite Futbal Club, Franklin will become the second sibling in her family to play college sports with her brother Kurtis having played football at the University of Redlands.

Despite being undecided on a collegiate major, Franklin hopes to one day enter a professional career in law.

Marley Holden – Midfielder – 5'3" – Freshman – Sisters, Ore. – Sisters HS

The only central Oregon native to join the Corban women's soccer program in 2024, Holden was an offensive juggernaut for Sisters High School throughout her four seasons, scoring 57 goals and assisting on another 42 to either score or assist on nearly 100 goals during her time as an Outlaw. Her high-flying attacking efforts led to a pair of First Team and Second Team All-League selections, First Team and Second Team All-State honors, and was named the Special District 3 League Player of the Year her senior season after leading her team in both goals and assists.

Holden will join Corban's award-winning education department to one day become an elementary school teacher.

Bailey Krause – Defender – 5'5" – Freshman – Fresno, Calif. – Immanuel HS

The Warriors' lone recruit from the state of California in 2024, Krause enters her collegiate career with a handful of titles and accolades that stem from both soccer and as a multi-event athlete in cross country/track & field. On the soccer field, Krause was named the Best All-Around player by her teammates at Immanuel High School in 2020, Most Versatile in 2021, and both the Hustle Award and Leadership Award in 2023, along with a McLane Soccer Tournament Championship the year prior. She also played a role in the Central Division Championship and TCC League Championship for the track & field Eagle programs in the spring of 2024.

Krause is expected to study biokinetics during her time at Corban.

Meliah Servatius – Defender – 5'9" – Freshman – Nine Mile Falls, Wash. – Lakeside HS

Another competitive defender to round out a stacked positional class for the Warriors, Servatius served as the key center back for Lakeside High School during all four years as an Eagle, garnering First Team All-League honors in 2021, 2022, and 2023, including a First Team All-State nod her senior season. Academically, Servatius was an honor roll recipient from her sophomore to senior year at Lakeside and will look to improve upon the program's already established 3.33 cumulative team GPA.

Having already earned college credits thanks to the Running Start program at Spokane Falls Community College, Servatius will be studying sports medicine as a Warrior.

Kylah Sprague – Forward – 5'2" – Freshman – Canby, Ore. – North Clackamas Christian School

As a multi-sport graduate out of North Clackamas Christian School, Sprague brings Second Team All-League and Honorable Mention athletic prowess to the Corban women's soccer program from both on the pitch with Canby High School and the basketball court for the Saints. She scored 10 goals over the course of her four-year career with the Cougars, helping lead the team to a 7-4-6 overall record in 2023 that resulted in a top ten OSAA ranking and quarterfinal state tournament appearance.

Expected to study kinesiology while a Warrior, Sprague plans to become an occupational therapist upon graduation.

Leah Valentine – Forward – 5'7" – Freshman – Salem, Ore. – West Salem HS

A 6A Central Valley Conference regular season champion in 2022, Valentine will be remaining in her hometown as she transitions from the western to eastern side of Salem to become a Warrior this upcoming fall season after a four-year career at West Salem High School. She was also a member of Capital Futbol Club for the past six years, serving as team captain from 2021 to 2024.

Valentine is currently undecided on what professional career/major she will be pursuing.
