GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – After a difficult opening round at the 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic, the Corban University Men's Golf program saw their A-team rally to best their I-5 rivals from Bushnell University by a four-stroke margin, while the Warrior's B-team wrapped up their second round with a single stroke of improvement between days at the Salishan Golf Links.

"We played a bit better as a team today, but kudos to Brayden along with Andy who gutted out his own incredible performance all while being sick," detailed Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "Had we played better yesterday, we would have definitely finished in second. We now have four days of practice to recover and prepare for our next conference match just next week.
A double-digit stroke count following the first 18 holes played out on the coast of Oregon for Bellevue College (575) allowed the Bulldogs to cruise to a 38-stroke win on the team title side, followed by Simpson University's A-team (613) in second and the Corban A-team (619) in third. Bushnell slipped to fourth after an 11-stroke difference between day one and day two forced the Beacons outside of the top three, while Simpson and Corban's B-teams finished fifth and sixth with 626 and 663 team scores, respectively.
For the second-straight contest, senior Brayden Sparkman (147) was the top performer for the Warriors, as he dropped a +1 round today to finish alone in fourth place after rising three placements on the individual leaderboard. Fellow senior Andy Austen (155) was also in the top ten finishers despite fighting an illness, as he tied for ninth with two other student-athletes.
Closing out he team scoring for the A-squad was junior David Harvey (156) who finished in a four-way tie for 12th, senior Shane Jacobus (161) in a tie for 21st with two other golfers, and finally freshman Isaac Laro (169) who was sandwiched between Corban B-squaders.
A round of 80 today from redshirt junior Brock Nelson (165) allowed the Lebanon native to regain his composure and finish as the Warriors' top bag for the B-team. The final participants from the Corban men's golf program today were as follows: junior Owen Heath (166 – T27th), freshman Micah Curtis (168 – T29th), freshman Brendan Barbeau (168 – T29th), freshman Bo Purnell (171 – 32nd), and finally freshman Lucas Savage (179 – 34th) who was participating as an individual this week.
A week from tomorrow, the Warriors will head to southwestern Idaho for the College of Idaho Invite, hosted by fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member The College of Idaho, with play continuing into the following Tuesday.
