Laro Claims CBC Medalist Honors, Warriors Rally for Top Three Team and Individual Finishes

RICHLAND, Wash. – A rapid recovery by the Corban University Men's Golf team allowed the Warriors to nearly snag a runner-up team finish at the Columbia Basin Invitational today during the final round of play but settled for a hard-fought third while the top three individual finishers were represented by the Navy and Gold. True freshman Isaac Laro claimed his first ever tournament medalist honors following an outstanding three-round appearance, winning the individual title by four strokes over teammate and senior Shane Jacobus while senior Brayden Sparkman secured the second-best round of the day behind Laro to finish in third.

"What a day to be a Warrior!" exclaimed Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. "The course still played tough today but was nice to not have the wind to deal with. Today's round was a battle between us, Colleges of Spokane, and Columbia Basin with an exciting finish down to the wire where we fell just a couple of strokes out of holding sole possession of second place. Congratulations to Isaac on winning his first collegiate tournament, and to Shane and Brayden for finishing second and third, respectively. Also, shoutout to Cavan for playing well in his first collegiate 54-hole tournament."

MGOLF at CBC (3.31.26) - Top 3

With Laro (+8) playing on the B-team (+150) this weekend, his scoring did not count towards the Warriors' A-team (+74) third place finish, which was just a single team stroke behind the Colleges of Spokane (+73) and within twenty from the team champion Bulldogs of Bellevue College (+56) who was the only team to have a better round three than Corban. Jacobus (+12) and Sparkman (+13) finished the final round at even par and -1, respectively, while senior David Harvey (+25) was the next highest Warrior bag in a tie for 21st. Junior Owen Heath (+33) and freshman Brendan Barbeau (+34) closed out the A-team finishers in 37th and 38th.

Following Laro on the Navy and Gold B-team was redshirt junior Brock Nelson (+36) in a tie for 41st, with freshmen Bo Purnell (+45), Lucas Savage (+62), and Micah Curtis (+63) in 57th, 67th, and 68th. Freshman Cavan Visser (+39) competed in his first collegiate tournament for Marshall and the Warriors this week as an individual, where he finished alone in 51st.

The Warriors will next be in action two weeks from yesterday at the Warner Pacific Spring Invite, which represents the final regular season and Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament prior to the 2026 CCC Championships at the end of April. The Warner Pacific University hosted event begins on Monday, April 13th at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland.
