GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – An up and down day of results on the greens of the Salishan Golf Links on the coast of Oregon led to some day one difficulties for the Corban University Men's Golf program, as the two Warrior squads and lone individual in action are down in the team standings but not out from making a day two comeback in their only hosted tournament of the year, the 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic.

"Course conditions and the weather were perfect for a great day of golf, but unfortunately our men struggled to take advantage of the ideal conditions," said Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. Tomorrow is a new day, to turn things around, and they know how they can get the job done. Kudos to Brayden, David, and Owen for their sub-80 rounds, and to our B-team who had some great moments as they continue to develop."
Bellevue College (285) was the only team to not only have student-athletes submit with under-par performances on the day and the top three finishers on the individual leaderboard, but were also just a single stroke over par as a squad to hold a 15-stroke lead for the team title heading into day two of the Coastal Collegiate Classic. Simpson University's A-team (300) holds the second place position following one round of play, while Bushnell University (306) rounding out the top three. Simpson's B-team (312), Corban's A-team (313), and the Warriors' B-team (332) make up the final three teams in action at Salishan Golf Links this weekend.
The leader across both Corban squads today was senior Brayden Sparkman (75) who is positioned in a three-way tie for sixth overall. Junior David Harvey (77) is tied for 13th alongside Beacons' Cody Adams, while senior Shane Jacobus (80) and senior Andy Austen (81) make up the final two team scorers for the Corban A-team. Freshman Isaac Laro (85) was the final A-team representative and is in a tie for 30th with three other golfers.
Junior Owen Heath (79) powered the Warriors' B-team with a top twenty performance this afternoon with a sub-80 round, with freshman Brendan Barbeau (84), freshman Bo Purnell, redshirt junior Brock Nelson (85), and freshman Micah Curtis (88) all earning placements between 28th and 33rd. Freshman Lucas Savage is golfing as an individual this weekend and is one of the four student-athletes in a tie for 30th with a round of 85.
Tomorrow morning, tee times for the final round of the 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic will begin at 8am, with the groups of leaders kicking off the final tee times no later than 9:03am.
