Four Warriors Finish in Top Fifteen, Mokgatle Takes Third in 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic

GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore. – On a beautiful Oregon coast Sunday afternoon, the Corban University Women's Golf team wrapped up play at the 2025 Coastal Collegiate Classic, the annual tourney hosted by the Warriors, where their A-team battled back to improve upon their day one scores by fourteen strokes while their B-team struggled to find their footing to finish in fourth and fifth in the team standings, respectively.

"Today showed a slight improvement overall in our overall individual scores with Yaone being our lowest scorer and finishing third overall," explained Corban head coach Charlie Marshall. "Yaone was stripping the ball well today giving herself potential birdie opportunities. This week will be spent on fine turning our game to get ourselves ready for our upcoming conference tournament in Idaho."

Bushnell University (689) took the team title on the women's side by over forty strokes despite improved gameplay by both second-place Simpson University (732) and third-place Bellevue College (735), while the Warriors' A-team (737) recovered from their day one setbacks but were unable to completely able to jump into the top three as they trailed the Bulldogs by just two total strokes. Meanwhile, the Navy and Gold B-team (863) posted a fifteen-stroke increase across round two after a troublesome day on the greens.

Warriors' sophomore Yaone Mokgatle (171) entered the day in a three-way tie for the medalist honors and finished six strokes behind the tourney winner from Simpson, Katelyn Miller. Freshman Riley Sparkman (187) had one of the best weekends of her young collegiate career to date, reducing her day one score by five strokes and place 12th overall. Meanwhile, sophomores Ashlyn Thomas and Madelyn Moore both rebounded to tie each other for 13th place with two-day scores of 191, with Thomas besting Moore by a single stroke in the final day to conclude the team scoring for Corban's A-team. Freshman Jaycie Moubray (198) was the final A-team member and finished in 17th.

The B-team Warriors, represented by freshman Taylor Wirth (199 – 18th), freshman Haley McDonald (216 – 20th), sophomore Kaylee Umbright (217 – 21st), and freshman Brianna Spurgin (231 – 22nd) wrapped up play this early afternoon and provided themselves with ample learning opportunities as they continue to grow their game.

The Warriors will next be in action at the beginning of November when they travel to the Firestorm Fall Classic in Buckeye, Arizona, hosted by fellow NAIA program Arizona Christian University.
