PORTLAND, Ore. – Through 18 holes at the Tournament of Knights, the Corban University Men's Golf reserve team finds themselves in second overall ahead of both squads from Olympic College, while the Warner Pacific University varsity team and tourney hosts lead the field with the top three individuals and a 29-stroke lead on the Warrior reserves. The Navy and Gold hold a ten-stroke lead on Olympic's A team and nearly 40-stroke lead on their B squad.
"Everybody posted really great first rounds today and all showed improvement from their training thus far this fall," Corban head coach Charlie Marshall stated earlier today. "Kudos to freshman Brendan Barbeau for his strong performance and top five showing thus far."
Warner Pac's Drew Satterhwaite (71) is the individual leader through the opening round at -2 overall, with Micah Chadwick and Alden Fay rounding out the top three for both the tourney and Knights' revived program. Warriors' freshman Brendan Barbeau (77) is tied for fifth overall with a pair of WPU student-athletes following a consistent 38-front nine and 39-back nine.
Following Barbeau on the tournament leaderboard for the Corban men's golf reserve team is redshirt junior Brock Nelson (81) in tenth and three-consecutive Warrior freshmen in eleventh through thirteenth, represented by Micah Curtis (82), Bo Purnell (84), and Lucas Savage (85).
The final round of the WPU-hosted tourney will begin tomorrow morning and conclude with tourney team and individual medalist honors presented.
