LA GRANDE, Ore. – After sending 12 grapplers to the mats today in the opening rounds of the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships, hosted by Eastern Oregon University, the RV Corban University Men's Wrestling team has advanced ten of those student-athletes to the final day of the conference championships and look to qualify a new program-best in individuals for the upcoming national championships at the end of February.

"It was a good day of wrestling for our group," Navy and Gold head coach Nolan Harris stated. "To advance 10 out of our 12 into day two of this tough tournament is a step in the right direction, and we were able to beat higher seeded wrestlers at both 141 and 184 in doing so." Luke found a way to score in overtime to advance, and Isaiah was able to erase a 7-2 deficit in the third round to win 9-8 and secure a spot in the semifinals. Bo along with David have been solid in picking up bonus points on their way to the semifinals as well."
Coach Harris carried on with his analysis by stating, "Tomorrow morning we have important rounds for both the team score and in each wrestler's quest to getting to the national tournament. There are still a lot of points to be scored, but in the end, we consider this a qualifier, and we're hoping to take a host of Warriors back to Wichita in two weeks' time."
The Warriors to move on to day two of the conference tournament with an unscathed record including defending weight class champion redshirt sophomore David Rubio and sophomores Bo Davis and Luke Jensen, who all moved to 2-0 on the day with impressive opening and quarterfinal victories. True freshman Isaiah Twait hit the mats only once today in a come-from-behind victory over Montana State University-Northern grappler Austin Vanek, moving him into the winner's semifinal stage tomorrow morning with Rubio, Davis, and Jensen.
Despite some opening and quarterfinal losses for several other Warriors, six more members of the Corban wrestling program will have the opportunity to move deeper into their respective brackets, which include senior Sven Lukner, juniors Tyson Stover and Markus Johnson, and sophomores Brayden Boyd, Lance Stover, and Blake Runion.
