No. 13 Warriors Shutout Geoducks in Olympia

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Behind three pins, three technical falls, an injury forfeit, and two weight class forfeits, the No. 13-ranked Corban University Men's Wrestling team went on the road and blanked Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) foe Evergreen State College in their second dual matchup in program history, as they breezed to a 51-0 decision in less than an hour for their only scheduled appearance this weekend.

"We did a good job tonight of staying focused and keeping a high pace," explained Corban head coach Nolan Harris. "We're coming off a tough week of practice and our guys responded well in how they performed. Brayden did a good job of setting the tone in the first match of the night, and I thought Gus wrestled well at 157. All in all, we were aggressive throughout the dual and it was a good night of wrestling."

With a double forfeit scheduled at 133lbs and Evergreen State forfeits at 174 and 197, the Warriors (8-3) had seven opportunities to score points with a 12-0 lead intact before the dual even started, which they added to in the opening 125-weight class with a pin by junior Brayden Boyd in 4:35 over Geoducks' Malachi Wallway.

An injury forfeit win for Corban junior Bo Davis at 141lbs at the 4:21 mark resulted in the second weight class victory for the Navy and Gold on the day, which was then added to again with a pin from sophomore Jr Downing in just under two minutes against his Evergreen State opponent Isaias Rodriguez.

Three-straight technical falls with a forfeit win wedged between for sophomore Gus Menne, redshirt senior David Rubio, and sophomore Isaiah Twait pushed the dual along quickly and setup the final weight class of the day following junior Asaiah Kamplain's forfeit victory. Redshirt junior Antonio Garcia needed just a minute and eight seconds to end the dual matchup in style by recording the Warriors' third fall of the evening over Geoducks' Marcellus Belton, thus locking up the 51-0 shutout of a CCC opponent.
