McMINNVILLE, Ore. – It was all Warriors today in the 2025 edition of the Mat 'Cat Invitational, as the annual invite tournament hosted by NCAA DIII Linfield University was littered with student-athletes from the No. 13-ranked Corban University Men's Wrestling team who showed up in style for their first appearance of the new year. Out of the ten weight class brackets from today's tourney, half of the divisions were taken by Warriors, as the program secured individual titles at 125, 149, 174, and 285, while two Corban grapplers shared the 197-weight class to give the squad 153.0 total team points, over double that of runner-up Southwestern Oregon Community College (70.5).
"It was a good day of wrestling and a great tournament overall for us," Corban head coach Nolan Harris explained earlier this afternoon. "We went 40-11 overall and came away with ten placers and five individual champions. For some, it was a good tune-up for this coming week and the national duals. For others, it was a great opportunity to get good matches in during a tournament format. I'm proud of how our guys competed throughout the tournament and their attention to opening up and scoring points. It will be critical to continue this approach as we head into the second half of our season, with both the conference and national tournaments quickly approaching. Our performance today was a step in the right direction."

Despite winning five of the ten weight classes, technically six different student-athletes from the Corban Men's Wrestling team can boast about taking a division title today in McMinnville, with the 197lb championship matchup featuring Warriors' junior Asaiah Kamplain and freshman Ethan Graham, who had both posted 2-0 records in the quarterfinals and semifinals to meet in today's championship round. As to be expected when a pair of teammates meet in a regular season tournament title setting, the two Warriors agreed on a double forfeit to retain their spotless records on the day and share the weight class crown.
Moving from the lightest weight class up, junior Brayden Boyd was as technical as ever in his dismantling of the featherweights, as he utilized a 12-3 major decision over Chase Rj Manski from Umpqua Community College followed by back-to-back pins against Malachi Wallway from The Evergreen State College and unattached Manuel Martir to secure the division championship.
The second individual weight class tourney title of the 2024-25 season for sophomore Jr Downing came in convincing fashion, as the Redmond native posted a pair of technical falls in the opening rounds at 149lbs before a major decision over Simpson University's Colton Silva clinched him a spot in the semifinals. In one of the most stacked weight classes of the day, Downing then secured a 10-4 decision over unattached Tristin Andrade and snagged his title against Matthew Hernandez from Clackamas Community College via a 4-2 decision.
Redshirt junior German Munoz was on a roll through the 174-weight class on his way to the title bout, posting back-to-back-to-back pins against Simpson's Ryan Galvan, Evergreen State's Justin Pritchard, and SWOCC's Will Abrams to secure a matchup with Linfield's Ethan Ensrud on the Wildcat's home mats. Able to fight off both Ensrud and the hometown crowd was Munoz in his championship bout, as he clinched an 8-2 decision to take home Corban's third weight class title thus far throughout the day.
Finally, nationally ranked redshirt junior Antonio Garcia matched Munoz with three-consecutive pins of his own, all three of which represented his only matchups of the day as he steamrolled his way through the 285 class. Ranked No. 10-overall in the NAIA, Garcia secured falls over Michael Hause from Pacific Lutheran University, Raul Garcia from San Jose State, and Garrett Olbrich from Pacific University.
In addition to the numerous first place winners, the Navy and Gold saw four more student-athletes place within the top four of their weight classes for podium finishes, including a runner-up at 165 represented by true freshman Armando Nicacio. Earning fourth place finishes in the consolation bracket were junior Lance Stover and sophomore Gus Menne at 149 and 157lbs, respectively.
