Smith put Western Baptist/Corban women's volleyball program on the map, guiding the Warriors to a school-record 238 wins over her 17-year coaching career. Taking the reigns in 1989, Smith gradually built the program until its peak in 1997 when the Warriors won a school-record 31 matches, brought home the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national title, and captured the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament crown. Smith also guided Western Baptist to its first-ever NAIA Region I tournament that season and was named NCCAA Coach of the Year. During her tenure, Smith led Western Baptist to eight Cascade Collegiate Conference tournaments, four NAIA Region I tournaments, and three NCCAA national tournaments. Smith posted 14 seasons with 10-or-more wins, while finishing in the top three in the conference three times and earning the program's highest NAIA national ranking (No. 13) in the final poll of the 1997 season.
